Bitumen Centrifuge Extractor — Hand Operated

The Hand Operated Bitumen Centrifuge Extractor is used for determining and checking the percentage of bitumen present in bituminous paving mixtures. During the test, the bituminous mix sample is treated with a solvent, and the dissolved bitumen is separated from the mineral aggregate by centrifugal action. The unit consists of a removable, precision-machined aluminium rotor bowl housed within a cast body. A filter paper disc is clamped between the rotor bowl and cover plate using a knurled nut to retain fine particles during the spin cycle. The bowl assembly is mounted on a vertical shaft that is rotated manually using a hand-operated crank/handle, with the gears running in an oil bath for smooth, splash-lubricated operation.
