Aggregate and Sand Testing Equipment
Length Gauge
The Length Gauge is used alongside the Flakiness Gauge to determine the elongation index of coarse aggregate. It consists of a metal frame fitted with a series of graduated bars set at fixed spacings corresponding to different aggregate size fractions. An aggregate particle is considered elongated if its greatest dimension (length) is greater than the specified gap between the bars for that size fraction. This test helps assess particle shape, which affects the packing density, workability, and strength of concrete and bituminous mixes.
