Bitumen Testing Equipment

Modified Marshall Apparatus (6 inch)

The Modified Marshall Apparatus works on the same principle as the standard Marshall Apparatus but is scaled up to test larger, 6-inch diameter specimens, which is required when testing bituminous mixes containing larger maximum aggregate sizes that would not be representative in a standard 4-inch specimen. It uses a correspondingly larger breaking head and compaction equipment, following modified procedures and correction factors as specified in the relevant standard.

It consists of

,Marshall load frame 50kN

Breaking Head Stability Mould

Marshall Mould 152.4mm ID x 114.3 on high.

Base Plate for 152.4mm dia sample

Extension collar for 152.4 mm dia sample

Compaction Pedestal for 152.4 mm dia sample

Compaction Hammer 10.21 kg x 45 mm drop

Load Transfer Bar

Sample Ejector for 152.4 mm dia Sample

Dial Gauge 25 mm travel, 0.01mm least count

Proving Ring capacity 50 kN
