Aggregate and Sand Testing Equipment
Crushing Value Apparatus
The Aggregate Crushing Value (ACV) Apparatus is used to assess the resistance of coarse aggregate to crushing under a gradually applied compressive load — an indicator of aggregate strength and suitability for use in road construction and concrete. The apparatus consists of a steel cylinder, a plunger, and a base plate. A standard-sized aggregate sample is placed in the cylinder and compressed at a specified load using a compression testing machine. The crushed (fines) fraction is sieved and weighed, and the crushing value is expressed as a percentage of the original sample weight. Lower values indicate stronger, more durable aggregate.
