Density Basket
The Density Basket (Wire Basket Method apparatus) is used to determine the specific gravity and water absorption of coarse aggregate. It consists of a cylindrical wire mesh basket suspended from a weighing balance, allowing a saturated aggregate sample to be weighed while fully immersed in water and again after surface drying. The difference in readings is used to calculate specific gravity and water absorption values, which are important parameters in mix design for concrete and other construction applications.
