Liquid Limit Device (Casagrande Type)
The Casagrande Liquid Limit Device is used to determine the liquid limit of fine-grained soils, the water content at which a soil changes from a plastic to a liquid state. A soil paste is placed in the brass cup, divided with a grooving tool, and the cup is repeatedly dropped through a fixed height by turning the cam until the groove closes over a set length. The number of blows at different water contents is used to find the liquid limit, a key input for soil classification.
Supplied with grooving tools and a height gauge block. Hand-operated and motorised versions are available on request.
